Two men arrested in connection with the murder of Richard Deakin in Chasetown have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The men, aged 61 and 33, from the Bilston area, were arrested yesterday morning (June 7) on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and questioned at a Staffordshire police station.

Mr Deakin, aged 27, died after he was shot in bed at his Meadway Street home on July 5, 2010. An ongoing inquiry is being carried out by Staffordshire Police’s Major Investigation Department.

Det Ch Insp Dave Garrett, who is leading the inquiry, said:

“Our detailed investigation into Richard’s death remains very active as shown by this week’s arrests. We’re determined to bring his killers to justice and are making good progress. Trained police family liaison officers are continuing to offer support to Richard’s family.”
