Lichfield District Council’s holiday playschemes take place from August 1 to 26, offering day-long sessions giving children aged five to 11 the chance to play games and have a go at art, sports and drama.

There are also sessions for seven to 13 year olds in August, which will include two weeks of pond dipping, water fights, den building and bug hunting in Beacon Park, as well as an art week and skateboarding sessions at King Edward VI Leisure Centre.

Burntwood Leisure Centre is also holding a holiday club that will offer five to 11 year olds the chance to take part in games, sports, swimming and art.

Councillor Val Richards said:

“This year we’ve got lots of sessions and activities to keep children and teenagers entertained over the summer holiday. On top of our daily playschemes and play activity weeks, we’ve got more than 60 holiday clubs, activities and sporty courses at our leisure centres and parks. So, make sure you sign your child up to a summer of fun.”

Thousands of Summer of Fun programmes are being distributed to schools within the district, but the full programme is also available online at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/summerfun.
