A boy has been airlifted to hospital after his bike’s brake lever became lodged in his thigh after a fall near Lichfield.

The Midlands Air Ambulance was called to Dark Lane in Alrewas shortly before 2.20pm this afternoon (June 11).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said:

“On arrival at the scene crews found a 12 year old boy who had become injured after falling from his bike. The boy was treated for an injury to his leg after the brake handle of the bike became lodge in his thigh.

“The patient was given pain relief at the scene and firefighters assisted by cutting the handle bars from the bike freeing the boy. Once freed, the boy was airlifted to Royal Derby Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
