Student firefighters firefighters will be doing their bit for the community as they take part in a litter pick.

The seven 16-year-olds are helping to tidy up the area surrounding McDonalds in Lichfield.

Lichfield risk reduction co-ordinator, James Hettihewa-Young said:

“Part of the student firefighter course is to engage with local businesses and the community and littering is an issue in the area. Litter not only looks messy, it is also damaging to the environment, wildlife and a potential fire hazard.

“The students are keen to lend a hand and support McDonalds with the organised litter pick-up.”

The student firefighters will be at the Conduit Street town centre McDonalds between 10.30am and 12noon today (June 17).
