A local MP has sought urgent assurances over the future of a nursing home near Lichfield.

Haunton Hall Nursing Home is owner by troubled care home provider Southern Cross who have been forced to agree a four month deal with landlords to give the company time to restructure its finances.

However, some care homes could still be sold off.

Christopher Pincher MP has now written to Southern Cross’ CEO Jamie Buchan to ensure residents and their families are being regularly updated about the future of Haunton Hall Nursing Home. He said:

“I am concerned about the lack of information about the future of Southern Cross Care Homes so I have specifically written to them to ask about Haunton Hall’s future. I understand it is a difficult time for Southern Cross but they must keep residents and their families informed of the situation.

“I hope to meet with Haunton Hall’s manager soon to talk about our local nursing home’s future and offer what help I can. I have sought assurances from Southern Cross that residents will endure minimum disruption during any transition of service provider and if they have to be relocated that it is somewhere in the local area.

“But of course, the primary objective must be to keep Haunton Hall open, ideally with no change of provider.”
