Lichfield rider Gary Mason was forced to endure a “frustrating” weekend in the British Superbikes championship.

The MSS Colchester Kawasaki team had been confident of a strong showing at the Snetterton track where the enjoyed positive pre-season testing, but both bikes were hit by tyre wear issues.

In the end, Mason clocked two 11th place finishes, while team-mate Alex Lowes finished 16th in race one and was forced out of the follow-up.

Mason said:

“It’s been a frustrating weekend. The team is a lot stronger than this and so am I, but for some reason it just hasn’t clicked at the Snetterton 300. It’s been one of ‘those meetings’, which is frustrating.

“I’m improving, the bike is improving, but we had some niggles that held us back. Luckily the next round is Oulton, which is a track I love. We got good points, but I want more than that and hope to come back much stronger at the next round and secure a place in the Showdown.”
