Lichfield Festival’s decorated model pigs have raised £17,000 for charity.

All 30 were on display throughout the Festival before being auctioned off in front of more than 500 people. TV auctioneer Charles Hanson brought the hammer down as the pigs raised between £260 and £1,300. The event was sponsored by local farming business Packington Pork. Rob Mercer, from the company, said: “I’m so pleased that we’ve been involved with this great project that has involved so many people in the local community and I’m delighted at the huge amount of money that has been raised for charity.” Full list of pigs, their creators and the good causes they will benefit:
  • A Busy Day At School: Whittington Primary School pupils, in aid of the Children’s Air Ambulance.
  • Ab-Art: Abbots Bromley School for Girls Year 9 pupils, in aid of Kariandusi School Trust.
  • Arby: Friends of National Memorial Arboretum, in aid of National Memorial Arboretum.
  • Arfurpig: Lichfield Cathedral School Year 6 pupils, in aid of We Love Lichfield Community Fund.
  • Autismpig: Local artists, in aid of The Autism Society.
  • Cartograpig: Wolgarston High School art students, in aid of Help For Heroes.
  • Clarice Pig: Lichfield Antiques Centre, in aid of St Giles Hospice, Sutton Coldfield.
  • Flora: artist Jules Cadie, in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
  • Fradley Very Important Pig: Girl Guides and Boy Scouts, in aid of Fradley Youth And Community Hall.
  • Gaudi: Fair Oak Business College students, in aid of Cancer Research UK.
  • Giles The Pig: St Giles Day Hospice patients, in aid of St Giles Hospice.
  • Hamelot: Lichfield Round Table, in aid of Round Table to distribute.
  • Jigsow: Jigsaw Community Hub in North Lichfield, in aid of Pathways.
