Lichfield City FC were back in pre-season action and impressed with what turned out to be a comfortable victory over West Midlands Premier league side Lye Town.

City took there time to get into there stride as the visitors had the better of the early exchanges, Dan Edwards saving well down low from a Cooper shot.

However, the hosts gradually got into their stride and carved out a couple of decent half chances with striker Dutton just failing to get on the end of a good run and cross from new signing Mark Rose.

It was City who took the lead on the half hour mark, after good work by Parnaby, the ball fell to striker Rose who muscled his way past two defenders to unleash an ustoppable shot that flew into the top corner.

Lichfield made plenty of changes at half time and this only seemed to increase the pressure on a now overworked visiting defence as City created chances at will, forward Josh Bambury guilty of missing the best opportunity.

The home side’s overdue second goal came on 75 minutes when a fine solo run by Dexter Ravenhill saw a left foot shot from the edge of the area nestle in the bottom corner.

City continued to press with winger Sean Williams creating havoc down the right and Lee Bloxham pulling the strings in midfield, Bambury hitting the keeper from five yards when it seemed a third was on the cards.

The visitors pulled a goal back two minutes from time with what proved to be nothing more than a consulation.

City go into their last friendly away at Newport on Saturday (July 30) with confidence sky high after a encouraging pre season with back to back promotions on the agenda.
