People are being invited to help count moths in Lichfield.

The monthly moth recording mornings were launched in May and run on the third Thursday of every month.
The next session is at Beacon Park on August 18 at 8.30am, with visitors helping to identify moths that have been caught in traps.
Ruth Witczak, Beacon Park’s community and education officer, said:
“The moth recording mornings have been going well and we’ve seen some beautiful moths, but we’re keen to involve more people. We send our records to the county recorder, to allow scientists to track any changes in populations over time.
“So, please do come along to the next session to help us record the moths and to find out more about these fascinating insects.”
Moths that have been seen so far include Poplar Hawk Moth, Peppered Moth, Setaceous Hebrew Character, Uncertain Moth and Buff Ermine.
Before setting off to the park, anyone who wants to come to the recording mornings can check that enough moths have been caught overnight by telephoning 07931 891 086 from 8am on the day.
All the moths will be released after the count.
