Lichfield city centre will be transformed into a cycling track for a race event this weekend.

The event on Sunday (August 28) is being organised by Lichfield District Council, Lichfield City Cycling Club and Born to Bike Cycling Club and will feature the Regional Youth Circuit Championships as well as races for beginners, women and elite cyclists.

The first race will get underway at 9.30am with the final race starting at 4pm. There will also be a number of running events during the day as well.

The city centre race route will start on Market Street, following the road round to go past Boots onto Tamworth Street, and left into Lombard Street. It then turns left towards the Cross Keys car park and into Reeve Lane. The left turn into Dam Street from Reeve Lane will see last minute jostling for the lead position into the tight right turn back on to Market Street and the finish line.

The roads of the route will be closed to traffic on Sunday from 8.45am until 6pm.
