A Lichfield school is celebrating after 97 per cent of students achieved at least five GCSEs at A* to C grade.

Michael Chanter, headmaster at Lichfield Cathedral School, believes the efforts of students has been rewarded. He said:

“The students’ commitment, enthusiasm and hard work have been rewarded with excellent grades. I am thrilled that, as a non-selective school, we can celebrate a 100 per cent pass rate, with nearly 40 per cent of the grades being either A* or A grades.

“Strong results in the traditional, more demanding academic subjects, combined with our continuing commitment to languages, music, the performing arts and sport, ensure that Cathedral School students are prepared for the challenges of A Levels, university and life beyond.”

Deputy head Susan Hannam added:

“Students at every level of ability have worked hard to achieve at or above their own personal targets and, as a result, they are now able to move on with confidence to the next step in our Sixth Form.”
