Lichfield City FC climbed to sixth in the table after securing back-to-back wins.

The first 20 minutes of the game was a scrappy affair with neither side really gaining a stranglehold on the game until the deadlock was broken by one of the goals of the season so far. Dan Mason curled a ball in from the left to Liam Holt who took two touches – one to control and the second to find the top corner with his left foot.

This gave the home team some confidence and a second goal followed ten minutes later. The ball was played in from the right and Sean Williams jinked past two defenders to get into the box before rolling the ball across the goal line where Dan Mason was waiting to bobble the ball into the net with his right foot.

The second half saw Lichfield strengthen their grip on proceedings and they added a third when a cross from the left was met with a great header from Sean Willams which sailed into the top corner over the keeper.

Fairfield got a consolation goal late on, but City held out for another good win.

Next Lichfield go to West Midlands Police for a Presidents Cup tie tomorrow night (September 6).
