The six volunteers, led by businesswoman Danielle Waller, will ride the Shockwave ride on Saturday (September 10) at Drayton Manor Theme Park to raise funds for Edward’s Trust.

Riding in groups of three, swapping over after each run, the fundraisers will be racing at speeds of up to 53mph and experiencing an 80ft plunge each time.

Jeremy Walker, director for business development for Edward’s Trust, said:

“These guys have certainly got strong stomachs, we hope they can last the whole five hours. We’re aiming to raise as much money as possible for Edward’s Trust and the families it supports.”

Edward’s Trust was created because of Edward Dent who died aged just seven. Through the pain and grief of their loss, his parents Peter and Hilary Dent decided to try and help other families. Edward’s Trust was set up in 1989 to fulfill that very personal mission. The Trust provides support for children and families during serious illness or bereavement.
