Lichfield City FC’s second string continued their steady if not spectacular start to the season with a third consecutive draw against a confident Earlswood side.

City had the better of the opening exchanges in a game of few opportunities, a looping Danny Reeves heading falling the wrong side of the post was the visitors’ best chance.

Lichfield did find the net on 40 minutes but Leon Morgan’s celebrations were cut short when the offside flag went up.

The second half went the same way as the first with chances at a premium, City keeper Scott Hamilton saving well down low, while at the other end striker James Lawson was guilty of a glaring miss when he hit the side netting from a couple of yards out.

The game was fizzling out into a predictable draw with substitute Chris Ashley firing tamely at the Town keeper and City’s stopper Hamilton smartly turning over a Turner shot to keep the scores level and earn Lichfield a point that keeps their unbeaten record intact.

Next game for City’s Reserves is on Saturday (September 10) away at Cadbury Reserves, kick-off 3pm.
