Lichfield City FC leapfrogged last year’s runners up in the league table with another fine result at the weekend.

Feckenham started the better of the two teams and City were struggling to play any football battling against the elements on a blustery day at Brownsfield Road.

Slowly, Lichfield started to get the ball down and pass it around and created a few half chances and good positions but the final ball wasn’t good enough.

After about 20 minutes Lichfield took the lead when Sean Williams scored with a terrific header.

Stuart Hamilton was winning everything at the back and Danny Worrall was winning the ball in midfield to start the home side’s attacks.

A second goal came when a ball in from the right was again met by Williams only to rebound back off the crossbar. While the Feckenham defence stood and watched the City man then followed up his initial header and put the ball in the net.

Feckenham stepped it up in the second half and started to play some good football themeselves. They had a couple of chances running in on goal from the left but could not convert and Lichfield held on to take all three points.

Next Saturday (September 17) Lichfield visit Droitwich, kick-off 3pm.
