People are being invited to take part in the last moth recording session of the season in Lichfield.
The event at Beacon Park on September 22 from 8.30am will allow visitors to help identify the different types of moth caught in traps overnight.
Ruth Witczak, Beacon Park’s community and education officer, said:
“This is the last Moth Recording Morning of the year, so we’re hoping plenty of people will take this opportunity to help us identify the park’s beautiful moths. We will be sending our records to the county recorder, to allow scientists to track any changes in populations over time. So, please do come along to this September session to help us record the moths and to find out more about these fascinating insects.”
Moths that have been seen at the monthly sessions so far include Poplar Hawk Moth, Peppered Moth, Setaceous Hebrew Character, Uncertain and Buff Ermine.
Visitors are asked to check that enough moths have been caught overnight by calling 07931891086 from 8am on the day. All of the moths will be released after the event.
