Trick Of The Dark by best-selling crime writer Val McDermid is available at Lichfield Library and coffee shops across the city ahead of a talk by the author at Lichfield Cathedral at 7pm on October 13.

A spokesperson said: “Val is a top 10 bestseller, translated into more than 30 languages, with over two million copies sold in the UK and over 10 million worldwide. She has written 25 bestselling novels.

“The popular ITV series Wire in the Blood, based on her books and starring Robson Green as Tony Hill, ran for an impressive six series. A 3-part ITV drama of Val’s A Place of Execution was broadcast in the autumn of 2007 to great critical acclaim and won the 2010 Edgar Award for Best Screenplay.”

The book is being given out as part of the Lichfield Literature Big Read. The festival will see events featuring 37 different authors between October 1 and 9.

Tickets are now available for all the events, including Val McDermid’s talk, at www.lichfieldfestival.org, by phone on 01543 306270 or in person at the Lichfield Festival office, 7 The Close, Lichfield.
