A Burntwood small-sided football league is offering free entry to new teams as it looks to expand. The Leisure Leagues competition takes place on Sunday, Monday and Thursday at Burntwood Leisure Centre. Senior manager Chris Rowntree explained: “We know it’s a hard time, all you seem to hear about is cut backs, redundancies and inflation so we thought by waiving the usual joining costs it would encourage those wanting a competitive game to get involved.” The weekly match fee is £3 and successful teams will be in with a chance of playing at the national tournament against the best small-sided football teams in the country. Chris added: ”It not only provides a great channel for getting fit and playing football, but also gives you the chance to see your mates without forking out for that gym membership or having to spend £20 down the pub every time. It’s a healthy alternative and you can always have a swift half after!” For more information on the leagues visit or call 0845 230 2340.
