Classical Brit Award winner Jack Liebeck is set to perform at Lichfield Cathedral.
The winner of the 2010 young performer of the year prize will appear alongside the Darwin Ensemble Chamber Orchestra (DECO).
DECO’s artistic director, Alex Laing, is delighted to be giving Lichfield audiences the chance to see one the finest violinists of his generation.
“I met Jack on a course a few years ago,” he explained. “I was extremely taken, not just with his amazing violin playing, but also with his insight and generosity as a musician and colleague. We are so fortunate to have Jack join us for the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto.”
To set the mood for the October 29 concert, DECO will also perform Mozart’s vivacious overture to his comic opera Cosi fan tutte and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 – the slow movement of which will sound familiar to film fans from recent Oscar-winner The King’s Speech.
The concert takes place at 7.30pm at Lichfield Cathedral and tickets – priced £15 adults; £12 concessions (OAPs and students), £5 children for reserved seats, or £12 adults, £10 concessions, £4 children for unreserved seats – are available by post from DECO, 20c The Close, Lichfield WS13 7LD, calling 01543 258303, emailing email@example.com, or in person from Lichfield Cathedral Shop on 01543 306150.
