By Chelsee Spencer & Bethan Garland: Chasetown Ladies came from behind to knock league leaders Coseley off the top of the West Midlands League Division One North.
Katie Rose and Carly Edwards created a chance early on for The Scholars, but it was Coseley who took the lead inside five minutes with a good header at the near post.
Chasetown were level with a great free kick from Jodie Kinsey, and almost took the lead in bizarre circumstances when Megan Rose’s throw in went in directly, only to be correctly ruled out as no-one else had touched the ball on its way to the back of the net.
Player-manager Edwards led by example to put Chasetown 2-1 in front. Lyndsey Turner found Edwards outside the box and she drilled a low shot into the bottom right hand corner.
Coseley showed why they were top of the league at start of play, netting a powerful header to level the score again at 2-2.
Chasetown substitute Lucy Allen made an instant impact, setting up Charlotte Bull for her second goal of the season, neatly slotting the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
The home side had a two-goal cushion following another Jodie Kinsey free-kick, which went straight through the Coseley’s keeper’s legs.
The game was won when Katie Rose’s corner kick found the head of Kinsey, who completed her hat-trick with a powerful header.
Chasetown: Carly Edwards, Rebecca Troth, Sarah Thompson, Steph Taylor, Amy Farmer, Charlotte Bull, Megan Rose, Jodie Kinsey, Lyndsey Turner, Stacey Roberts, Katie Rose. Subs- Dani Wright and Lucy Allen.
