The FA Cup

Chasetown FC will be hoping a return to FA Cup action can help them quickly overcome a 4-1 defeat at Worksop Town.

The Scholars had only a Jordan Johnson goal to enjoy about their miserable midweek trip, but the prospect of another game in the competition they have become synonymous with should be the perfect tonic.

Grantham Town will be the visitors to The Scholars Ground tomorrow (October 1) after Charlie Blakemore’s side saw off Midland Football Alliance outfit Alvechurch in the last round.

Dean Perrow remains a doubt for Saturday’s game, but Gary Birch is available once more on Jack Farmer is back in contention after returning to the squad in midweek.

Despite a history of being the underdog in the competition, Chasetown will be favourites to progress against Grantham, who beat Arnold in the last stage of the FA Cup.

Tomorrow’s visitors currently lie 13th in the Evo-Stik First Division South and will be looking to dangerman Paul Grimes to lead the line after he signed a contract with the Lincolnshire this week.

The two sides last met during the 2009/10 season when a double from Reece Styche earned Chasetown a win away from home, before a late equaliser secured a point for Grantham in the reverse fixture.

Kick-off at the Scholars Ground is at 3pm.
