
Crime writer Val McDermid is let to lift the lid on her career as an author at a talk in Lichfield.
Her novel Trick Of The Dark has been chosen as this year’s Lichfield Literature festival Big Read book.
And Val will be talking about the inspiration behind the tale, as well as that of her latest work The Retribution, at Lichfield Cathedral at 7pm tomorrow (October 13).
A spokesperson said: “Val is a top 10 bestseller, translated into more than 30 languages, with over two million copies sold in the UK and over 10 million worldwide. She has written 25 bestselling novels.
“The popular ITV series Wire in the Blood, based on her books and starring Robson Green as Tony Hill, ran for an impressive six series. A 3-part ITV drama of Val’s A Place of Execution was broadcast in the autumn of 2007 to great critical acclaim.”
The Big Read initiative has seen 200 copies of Trick Of The Dark distributed at coffee bars around Lichfield, as well as at Lichfield Library and at the Lichfield Festival office.
