A Lichfield-based construction firm has collapsed.

Reports on the BBC revealed that 240 jobs would go at The Linford Group after it ceased trading.

The company specialised in restoration projects before its demise.

“The situation has been brought about by a series of bad debts suffered by Linford Group Ltd,” explained the firm’s chief executive Sean Wood.

Richard Goodwin from Butcher Woods, the company handling the insolvency, told the BBC that the job losses would be immediate.

He added: “The company is unfortunately another casualty of the difficulties currently being faced in the construction industry.”
