Outgoing Chasetown FC manager Charlie Blakemore has been applauded on his “eight great years” in charge.

The compliment came from former Crystal Palace striker Mark Bright.

The TV pundit trained with the Scholars during the build-up to their famous FA Cup run which saw them draw with Oldham Athletic live on the BBC.

And Bright even sent a good luck text to Blakemore during their run to the third round of the competition in 2007.

Blakemore has decided to call time on his spell in charge and take up a director’s role at the club after Chasetown’s game with Stafford Rangers on Saturday (October 15).

And Bright was quick to wish him all the best as he prepares to take to the dugout one last time.

He posted on Twitter: “l wish Chasetown FC manager Charlie Blakemore all the best in his last game as manager this weekend, he’s moving upstairs after 8 great yrs.”

New manager Chris Brindley will take over after Saturday’s fixture.
