Lichfield City remain top of the table and unbeaten after securing their sixth win on the spin against mid-table Racing Club Warwick.

City started brightly with Ashley Bennett going close and Leon Morgan firing into the side netting.

Lichfield eventually broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, a low strike from Danny Thurstance finding the bottom corner for a deserved lead.

The second half went the same way as the first with City dominating possesion, Chris Yallieriou and Thurstance once again pulling the midfield strings.

Chance after chance went begging with the visiting keeper in inspired form.

City eventually got a second when a looping header from defender Alex Alderson found the net to wrap the points up for the hosts.

Next Saturday (October 22) sees City’s second string away at Shirley Town, kick-off 3pm.
