Lichfield City FC’s second string travelled to the impressive Victoria Ground and returned with all three points, retaining their place at the top of the table with a hard fought victory over a young Bromsgrove Sporting side.
The visitors raced out of the blocks and found themselves two goals to the good after 15 minutes.
Dan Thurstance’s fine strike from the edge of the area after good work by Olly Budd and a strike from Ashley Bennett gave Lichfield the ideal start.
A rampant City were piling forward at will and creating numerous chances, Chris Ashley firing wide when he should have done better, and Leon Morgan’s free kick grazing the bar.
The second half started with few chances being created, the best one falling to Ashley again who weakly headed at the keeper.
Lichfield’s sloppy attempt at trying to play the game out backfired when a sensational strike from 16-year-old Jamie O’Meara gave Bromsgrove a lifeline.
City were now frantically defending their slender lead and the home side were disappointed that they were unable to get anything from the game as Lichfield hung on to claim the points and stretch their unbeaten start to 11 games.
