Rehearsals are underway for the Lichfield Garrick’s production of A Christmas Carol.

The full cast, including The Bill star Graham Cole, got together for a first read-through of the script last week.

“The first few days are always nerve-racking,” Graham explained. “However, we already feel like a family.

“The dance routines and songs are simply unbelievable. If you think Dickens may be a bit dark then this production of A Christmas Carol is anything but!”

The production tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man who has lost his Christmas cheer. With the arrival of three ghosts, Scrooge is hurled on a journey of self-discovery with a lesson he will never forget.

Scriptwriter and actor, Ian Adams, has adapted the novel especially for the Lichfield stage, and the Garrick’s artistic and executive director Adrian Jackson is arranging the musical score.

The show will open on December 1 and run until January 2, 2012, with a variety of school, matinee and evening performances.

Tickets are already on sale and can be booked via the Lichfield Garrick Box Office on 01543 412121 or by visiting www.lichfieldgarrick.com.

The full cast will be switching Lichfield’s Christmas lights on in the Market Square on Thursday (November 24) at 7pm.
