Burntwood residents are being invited to join the town’s Christmas Lantern Parade.
The event, on December 10, will be led by Burntwood Rotary Club’s Santa, the parade will feature lanterns of all shapes and sizes. It will set off from Burntwood Youth Centre on Cherry Close at 6.30pm and then make its way around local streets.
The parade will return to Burntwood Leisure Centre, where it will be greeted by real reindeer.
Their will also be a Christmas market in the sports hall that will include carol singing by the Lichfield Garrick Young Rep Choir, craft stalls, face painting and festive refreshments.
In preparation for the parade, a series of free lantern making workshops will be taking place.
Councillor Colin Greatorex, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for organisational development and community, said: “Last year we saw many inventive lanterns, including a Christmas cracker, fairy and tree.
“We hope lots of people get involved in the workshops, and we’re sure everyone will be just as creative this time round.
“Taking part in the parade, or seeing it on its way around Burntwood, will be a magical way to start the countdown to Christmas.”
The lantern making workshops are running from Saturday (November 26) to December 8. To find out more or book your place, call Ryan Waldron on 01543 308225 or email email@example.com.
“This fantastic community event is only possible thanks to all the groups and volunteers who are helping to organise it,” added Sharon Whitchurch, chairperson of Forward Action Burntwood.
