Lichfield City FC continued their winning ways with an away victory at mid-table Phoenix United.

After a fairly scrappy start, where neither side created anything, Lichfield moved ahead on 24 minutes when a good run and cross by Sol Griffiths resulted in Matt Robinson netting at the near post.

City only had to wait two minutes to double their lead as Robinson doubled his tally following another cross from Griffiths which was headed home at the far post.

The rest of the opening period resulted in a bit of a midfield battle, with Phoenix going close as they struck the post from a corner.

Lichfield started to click into gear in the second half and began to create chances. Robinson was unlucky not to complete his hat-trick as he just failed to reach a cross into the goal area after good work between Ravenhill and Rock.

The visitors then saw Rock’s shot being blocked by his own player following a driving run. Dunkley was also unlucky when he turned the ball back across goal to see his shot cleared off the line.

Phoenix pulled a goal back in the 84th minute when Asher Blake beat Lichfield keeper Haden from close range to give City an anxious few minutes to the final whistle.

This coming Saturday (December 10) Lichfield are at home to Bromsgrove Sporting, who are bound to bring a big support with them. Kick-off at Brownsfield Park is 2pm.
