Woman airlifted to hospital after crash in Gentleshaw

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after a crash in Gentleshaw.

The accident happened on Windmill Lane, at around 9.50am yesterday (December 13).

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a doctor on board attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a pedestrian that had been in a serious collision with a car.

“The woman, believed to be in her 50’s, had suffered a serious head injury in the crash and received emergency treatment at the scene.

“The woman’s condition was stabilised by ambulance staff and the doctor and she was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Major Trauma Unit for further emergency treatment.

“The hospital had been pre alerted to the woman’s arrival and her serious injuries. Unfortunately, the woman’s injuries are considered to be life threatening.

“The air ambulance landed in a field nearby.”
