Cllr Alan White will take on the Development Services role from Cllr Neil Roberts, who has decided to step down from the post.

Lichfield District Council leader Mike Wilcox said:

He said: “I am delighted to welcome Alan White to the cabinet. He has a great deal of experience in matters of planning and development control and I know that he will help us to shape the district in the right way.

“I know I speak on behalf of my fellow councillors and members of the cabinet, when I say how grateful we are for all the time and energy Neil Roberts has devoted to leading the Development Services portfolio.

“As a cabinet cember for many years, Neil has overseen big changes across the district. These have included major projects, such as Darwin Park, City Wharf and Beacon Park Village, as well as Fradley South, and Lichfield Retail Park.

“Neil has been a crucial member of Lichfield District Venture, and worked on complex upcoming projects, such as the Friary Outer and Friarsgate developments. He has also been involved at every step in putting together the emerging development framework for how the district should be developed in the future.

“For all this work and much more, and for the wise words and challenging debates, I thank Neil and wish him a well earned rest.”

Cllr Roberts will continue as district councillor for the ward of Longdon.

Along with the changes to the cabinet, Cllr Wilcox also announced that Cllr Richard Cox will take over the role of chairman of the Environment & Development Overview and Scrutiny Committee from Cllr White.
