Lichfield City FC have unveiled ambitious plans for the future of the club.

They have submitted a planning application to install floodlighting, two stands and an extension to the changing room facilities at their Brownsfield Park home.

It is all part of the Midland Combination club’s plans to develop a bright future off the pitch as well as on it.

As well as a thriving first and second team at senior level, the club also field a side in the Midland Floodlit Youth League, as well as a number of junior players.

Should the plans – which have been formally submitted to Lichfield District Council – be approved, it would allow the team’s senior setup to climb through the non-league pyramid by meeting ground grading criteria for future promotions.

As well as the six 15-metre high floodlights, the club also intend to build a one-metre path around the entire pitch as well as installing a pergola.

Residents can have their say on the proposals via Lichfield District Council’s planning website.

“…a number of junior players…”

That’s a bit of an understatement – as well as the senior teams there are I think 17 teams of lads (and some lasses) aged 16 and under. A fabulous set up for loads of Lichfield youngsters, something for local people to be really proud of, I reckon.
