Some of the tree planting volunteers
Volunteers have turned out to replant 100 trees at Chasewater Country Park. The group joined Lichfield District Council’s park rangers, countryside team, and the Countryside & Parks Conservation Group to move young silver birch and oak trees from Anglesey Basin, where they were damaging rare heathland plants, and replanting them round a nearby pond. Ellen Williams, Chasewater Country Park ranger, said: “The weather was perfect, and we had a good day in the fresh air. “We moved all the trees, which are settling in well to their new location in the country park. I’d like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers for all their hard work.” Anyone interested in taking part in future conservation work across Lichfield and Burntwood can call Lichfield District Council’s countryside team on 01543 308183 or email denice.deverall@lichfielddc.gov.uk.
