A body found in the River Trent is believed to be that of missing man Tyler Gardner.

The 18-year-old left Manitoba nightclub in Burton in the early hours of Sunday, February 26 headed for Lichfield.

Although no formal identification has taken place, police believe that the body discovered today is that of Tyler.

It was found by a member of the public shortly before 10:10am in a weir off Newton Road, Burton.

Inspector Darren Oakey, from East Staffordshire Local Policing Team (LPT), said: “Unfortunately we believe the body recovered is that of Tyler – this is a very sad conclusion to our investigation to find Tyler. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“I would like to thank all members of the public that helped with the search, and for their general support and assistance around the investigation over the past few weeks.”
