Families in Lichfield and Burntwood will not face an increase in the price of school meals.
Staffordshire County Council confirmed prices would be frozen until January 2013, meaning primary school, special and middle school students will pay £2.10, while high school pupils will pay £2.20. Each meal is two courses and includes a drink.
Cllr Liz Staples said: “This price freeze will help to support families and mean they can continue to enjoy great value for money for good nutritious meals.
“We are committed to providing healthy food for young people at affordable prices. The freeze has been made possible through careful planning and identifying where savings can be made without impacting on the quality of service.
“Our catering services team has worked hard to ensure the menus are well thought out and based on good quality locally sourced ingredients.
“In addition to providing a high standard of meals for our young people we are supporting local business and Staffordshire’s economy.”
