Chasetown FC have promised to spread the net far and wide as they search for a new manager.

The relegated Scholars have been without a full-time boss since axing Chris Brindley before their final league game of the season at Burscough.

Former manager Charlie Blakemore is understood to have ruled himself out of the running to return to the hotseat, although he is expected to have some say on the new man to take the helm.

Blakemore’s assistant Andy Cox has already thrown his hat into the ring, while speculation is also gathering around reserve team boss Andy Penny and Chasetown academy chief Andy Turner.

Penny’s cause won’t have been harmed by the second string’s unbeaten season while former Tottenham and Portsmouth player Turner has been instrumental in setting up and running the academy setup which is fast becoming a production line for the reserve and first team at the Scholars Ground.

However, in an advert for the vacant position, Chasetown bosses have admitted “all applications will be considered”. Interested parties have until May 1 to apply. For more details, visit the club’s website.
