A community farm near Lichfield is opening its gates to the public to show what community supported agriculture is all about.

The Walled Garden at Woodhouse Farm produces a weekly selection of fresh vegetables for their members, giving the farmer a guaranteed core income. Eggs and meat from the farms own chickens, cows and pigs is also available. The local community in turn know that their food is fresh, low in food miles, produced ethically with low or no chemical input and high animal welfare standards.

An open day on May 27 aims to highlight the project and provide a great day out. On offer will be guided tours of the garden, activities for the children, refreshments and cake, hot dogs made from farm sausages, a chance to find out more about community supported agriculture and a chance to visit the new sales area.

The garden is open from 2pm to 5pm and welcomes anyone interested to visit the farm which is on Fisherwick Wood Lane, Fisherwick Wood, WS13 8QG.
