The timetable for the 2012 Florette Lichfield Dash has been announced with 2011 winner Elliot Giles of Birchfield Harriers set to defend his crown.

This year, the dash takes place on Saturday June 30th, the day when the Olympic Torch comes to Lichfield and Olympic 400m 2006 Silver Medallist Roger Black makes a guest appearance.

The dash is now in its 14th year and has become a part of the city’s sporting culture in recent years and dash founder Kevin Wilson of organisers KP Events is proud that the event has been moved to accommodate the Torch’s visit;

“The dash is very special to everyone in Lichfield, tyhis year will truly be a massive spectacle and the crowds will flock to the Close to see it especially with Roger Black on hand to coach the youngsters and help us out with prize giving and chatting on the PA, it’ll be truly unique.”

This year youngsters and adults can enter races via before the big day as well as just turn up on the day and another first is the advent of a giant TV screen to enable even better viewing for the crowds who attend and there will also be a special prize for the dash winner, a specially designed tribute ash trophy designed and made by Arther Price of Lichfield plus a special cash prize too.

All the money raised from the entry fees raised at the Florette Dash will be donated to the We Love Lichfield Fund.
