Messy garden areas in Lichfield have been spruced up.

The Friday Acre gardens have traditionally been a messy area with bins left on pavements.

But thanks to a revamp by the Bromford housing group and Lichfield District Council, the area has been cleared and re-fenced, giving local residents valuable outside space.

Helen Minchin, neighbourhood manager for Bromford, said: “Historically, these gardens have never been well maintained but now residents can enjoy their own gardens with new fences.

“We have a number of keen gardeners in the street who already have established gardens and now all residents will have the same opportunity to create and transform their own open space.”

Councillor Michael Fryers added: “This has made such a difference and really lifted the area.

“The provision of bin stores has been a God-send too, as previously there were none.”

I very much welcome the improvement in this area, which has been blighted by litter, and dog fouling. I seriously hope that Bromford will look into the question of internal problems with the flats and more particularly mould on the walls. As a former Councillor I dealt with several problems like this.
