Streethay fun day to mark Olympic torch’s visit to Lichfield

Villagers in Streethay will be making the most of the Olympic torch’s visit to Lichfield by holding a community fun day.

The event – which take place in the play area from 8am tomorrow (June 30) – will feature a bouncy castle, stalls, games and activities.

There will also be free fruit tasting after Midlands Co-operative Society agreed to support the fun day, which has been organised by Fradley and Streethay Parish Council.

The Olympic torch relay will pass through the village as it makes the journey from the National Memorial Arboretum to the city centre.

Michael Spencer, from Midlands Co-operative Society, said: “As a community retailer we are delighted to be supporting the community event in Streethay.

“This event is the perfect opportunity for those who live in Lichfield to get together, enjoy our free fruit tastings while seeing the Olympic Torch pass through Streethay on its journey to the Olympic Games.”
