Vocal workshop for female singers set to take place in Lichfield

A vocal workshop for female voices is being held in Lichfield by local community choir Kaleidoscope.

This will be an opportunity to enjoy singing with a choir without having to read music, as everything will be taught by ear.

The workshop will be led by Laura and Themba Mvula who are both graduates of the Birmingham Conservatoire and have a wealth of musical experience.

Laura has performed with the female a cappella group Black Voices and is now recording her own album, while Themba has sung in choirs for many years and is an accomplished and versatile soloist. He currently sings with Ex Cathedra.

A spokesperson said: “Themba and Laura have done many workshops in schools, with community groups and choirs and are currently musical directors of Lichfield Gospel Choir. They strongly believe that singing is for everyone, not just those who can read music.”

The workshop is to be held at Whittington Village Hall on September 15 from 10am to 4pm and costs £14.50. Anyone interested in joining can contact Marilyn on 01543 300176 or e-mail
