The Orchestra Of The Music Makers in Lichfield Cathedral on Sunday (July 8) will see James Mayhew create magical images while the the musicians play melodies that conjure up the Arabian Nights and magicians.

Author and illustrator James’s first book for children was Katie’s Pictures Show, establishing the best-selling series about a child’s adventures in an art gallery. He is also the creator of Ella Bella Ballerina, a series introducing the great ballet stories to the youngest children.

A spokesperson said: “As a storyteller he has devised and performed a series of unique concerts for children that combine classical music, stories and art.

“For this Lichfield Festival concert James will retell the extraordinary tales from the Arabian Nights that inspired the composer. Then, as the orchestra plays, he will create illustrations live on stage for all to see. There will be tales of princesses and pomegranates, genies and monsters and fabulous fairytale cities.

“Come along and be carried away on a magic flying carpet of stories, music and art.”

The concert starts at 6pm. Tickets are just £5 for children, £10 for adults, and there is a family ticket for four for £25. To book visit or call 01543 412121.
