Time is running out for Lichfield and Burntwood residents to take part in a fundraising trek across Vietnam.

Thirteen people have already signed up to St Giles Hospice’s expedition which takes place in October 2013 – and with just 17 places remaining, would-be explorers are being urged to act now to guarantee their seat on the plane.

The adventure will give people the opportunity to spend ten days hiking in the Hoa Binh province, located in the mountainous area south east of Hanoi.

Those wanting to take part can find out more at one of two special Open Day Sessions being held at the hospice in Fisherwick Road, Whittington, at 3pm and 7pm on July 11.

Explorers from the Lichfield area who have already signed up for the trek include Patricia Turrall, Debbie and David Phillips, Pam King and Chris Cheadle.

Helen Relihan, Head of Fundraising for St Giles Hospice, said: “We recently held two open day sessions for those interested to find out more about the trek, and they were such a success that 13 people signed up there and then.

“There are now just 17 places up for grabs, and so I would urge anybody who wants to be part of this unforgettable experience to attend one of our Open Day Sessions to avoid disappointment.”

The trek takes place between October 17 26, and is open to anyone aged over 18. All sponsorship money raised by the trekkers will go towards helping to care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.
