Councillor Bernard Derrick gave £1,024 each to St Giles Hospice and the Pathway Project.

“It was my pleasure in my role as chairman to help raise money for charity,” he said. “I only wish it could have been more.

“I chose St Giles Hospice and the Pathway Project because they hold a special place in my heart and work so hard to support the people of Lichfield District when they are facing difficult times in their lives.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me in my year as chairman and to everyone who gave so generously to my chosen charities.”

Kathy Coe, director of Pathway Project, added: “We are really grateful to Cllr Bernard Derrick for choosing us as one of his charities to support during his year in office.

“In addition to the much needed funding, he has generously given his time to raise our profile both locally and nationally. Councillor Derrick nominated Pathway Project for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, and we are delighted that we were successfully approved for this honour.”
