Planning chiefs have rejected a bid to build a wind turbine near Lichfield.
The land at Hamstall Ridware would have seen a 50m high turbine erected if it had been given the go-ahead.
However planners at Lichfield District Council have said the scheme is too close to the Needwood Forest Gliding Club’s take-off and landing site.
The decision notice added that such a development “would be likely to constitute a hazard to gliders taking off and in circuit to approach and land arising from turbulence”.
They also said the turbine would cause “substantial harm” to the setting to a number of listed buildings in the area, including St Michael and All Angels Church.
Full details of the decision and plans can be seen on the Lichfield District Council planning website.
