An e-fit has been released of a man who posed as a bogus official to burgle an elderly woman in Burntwood.
An e-fit of the bogus official suspect
The suspect went to a home in Baker Street, Chasetown, at 9.15am on July 31 claiming he was from a housing association and was there to carry out repairs. He stole a handbag which contained cash during the visit. The man is white, aged between 40 and 50, 6ft with a stocky build and short brown hair. He had a red/ruddy complexion. He wore a dark blue military-style jacket and dark blue baseball cap and drove a small white van. DC Stuart Coleman said: “This is a disturbing crime where a man has tricked his way into an elderly woman’s home to steal her money. “I would ask residents to be extra vigilant and not allow anyone in their homes before verifying their identification.” Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Coleman at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 158 of July 31. Alternatively, they can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
