The headteacher of a Burntwood school has hailed the “fantastic results” of students in their GCSE exams.
Erasmus Darwin Academy youngsters achieved their best ever GCSE results, with 67 per cent gaining five A* to C grades, including English and Maths, while 96 per cent achieved five A* to C grades.
Among the star performers were:
Josh Baggott: eight A* grades and one A grade
Molly Beardsmore: six A* grades and four A grades
Charlotte Hendley: three A* grades and seven A grades
Bernice Astling, Principal of Erasmus Darwin Academy, said: “I congratulate our students on their fantastic results. They knew that we expected a great deal of them, and they have worked extremely hard to meet challenging target grades.
“I am delighted that the Academy continues to improve its performance year on year. Together with our extremely strong Sixth Form results, 2012 has been a bumper year for examination results at Erasmus Darwin Academy.
“I am extremely proud of our students and our staff who thoroughly deserve their success. I am also very grateful to our parents who have been so supportive of our students and the Academy in general.”
