A new Lichfield business has handed over a cheque to a local charity.
The We Love Lichfield Fund has been the lucky recipient after Faroe Born made the donation following its first month of trading.
The company is the first shop in the UK to sell products from the Faroe Islands including jewellery and woollen garments including hats, gloves, scarves and jumpers using organic wool from sheep that freely roam the North Atlantic islands.
Based at the Heart Of The Country, the business is the brainchild of local resident Ian Bourne who said: “I’m delighted that I can contribute to my home town.
“My home and my business are in Lichfield district and I am passionate about the area and its people. The We Love Lichfield Fund is great because you know that all the money raised goes to the area.”
Simon Price, Patron of the We Love Lichfield Fund, added: “I’m delighted that another local business has come forward and is contributing to its local people and I would like to thank Ian for his kind generosity.”
Launched in 2011 We Love Lichfield is a local fund that provides small grants to a wide range of projects based in Lichfield. The fund will consider all applications from local groups in need twice a year. Companies and individuals are welcomed to donate or fundraise and all money is invested through a permanent endowment fund by registered charity Staffordshire Community Foundation on behalf of We Love Lichfield in line with charity commission guidelines. The interest and dividends earned on the invested money is then distributed by the We Love Lichfield Fund as small grants across the district.
