The Ford KA being handed over to the Lichfield Local Policing Team

More than 30 vehicles have been security marked in Lichfield as part of a campaign to combat catalytic converter thefts.

The event was organised by the Lichfield Local Policing Team (LPT) and took place at Tempest Ford on St John Street.

PCSO Brian Harbon, who helped to organise the event, said: “With the high cost of metal such thefts are becoming more widespread. By marking a catalytic converter with a unique identification code it is possible to trace it back to the vehicle it was taken from.

“I would like to thank Tempest Ford for not only assisting and allowing us to host the event but for also supplying and sponsoring a Ford KA for officers at Lichfield LPT. Since receiving the KA it has made a huge difference in enabling the team to get about more efficiently and the vehicle is mainly being used by Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) to enable us to get to neighbourhood events.”

Brian Carruthers, managing director of Tempest Ford, added: “We are delighted to be able to provide such proactive support to the Lichfield policing team.”
