The track was created over the summer by the same company which built the London 2012 Olympic BMX track.

Councillor Rebecca James, Mayor of Fazeley Town Council, said: “I would like to thank everyone involved in the transformation of the BMX track. It’s a brilliant asset to Mile Oak and Fazeley.”

Future elements of the project will include adding bicycle racks, hedgehog and bird boxes, first aid training for members of Mazeley Wheels, and safety awareness training sessions for track users of all ages.

Lichfield District Councillor Colin Greatorex added: “The launch event was a tremendous success with people of all ages trying out the new track under the watchful eye of expert riders.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make the Mile Oak BMX track a reality. It is a fantastic group achievement. A special thank you must go to Tamworth BMX Racing Club for running the popular training sessions at the opening.”
